Sight-singing is fundamental to a singer's musical independence, and enhances their creativity. It is the expression of their musical literacy as singers, and makes learning new music exciting and easier. Each day, we review previous song/exercises and sight-sing at least two or three new ones. We have sight-singing quizzes every week. Students also write their own exercises  for the class to sing together in an activity called "sight-singing composition." This is one of the most innovative acts of musical creativity and literacy--writing your own music and performing it. After years of taking part in these activities, students will be extremely advanced singers with a high level of musical literacy and musical "tools" for expressing their inner creativity as singers.
